What We're Watching: October at TV Time

"The Haunting of Hill House" left us haunted and wanting more. Netflix

Not sure what to watch? We've got you covered. Here at TV Time we love keeping up with our shows, and 'tis the season to delve into the scary side of television. Quite a few of us in the office are not only TV fans, but pretty avid horror fans as well. It's time to set the mood for the spookiest season -- add a little pumpkin spice to your life with these hot picks from the TV Time team!

American Horror Story

"I love American Horror Story for several reasons. I appreciate the combination of cheesy camp and nightmare fuel. …. Every season starts out scary, but always ends up going in a wild direction. Sometimes it's insane in the best way, sometimes it’s a trash can fire … but both make for great television. Plus, it’s an anthology series so you can’t get too attached, and the cast gets the opportunity to play many different characters!"

Stranger Things

"It's able to incorporate lighthearted moments in a show where the primary feeling is dread. Basically manages to combine horror with kid shenanigans without detracting from either. A rare show that can take time out of the action to show how characters carry trauma even once the danger is past."

The X-Files

"-X-files because.. the truth is out there.
-X-files because.. I want to believe.
-X-files because Smoking Man is smoking.
-Also, alien pregnancy?!"

Hassan

Supervisor, Business Operations

The Walking Dead

"I've recently started watching 'The Walking Dead', I know, super late to the party, but finally got around to watching it with together with my fiancee. I love horror, but could never watch anything on my own (I admit, I'm a "scaredy-cat" at heart). It's an awesome show - not just because it has all the elements of a thriller and gore, but has some genuine heart-to-heart drama infused in it as well. Who knows, I might just get the courage to watch the next season on my own, haha!"

Marianne

"By the end credits of the first episode I was totally obsessed with this show. The suspense is tangible, the cinematography is gorgeous, and the idea is original -- and terrifying. From start to finish there's this unbreakable tension and a sense of overbearing darkness. This brilliantly cast show will leave you haunted with a sense of ominous foreboding."

What We Do in the Shadows

"'What We Do in the Shadows' hits my sweet spot as a vampire expert/aficionado, and it is freaking hilarious! Great cast and some incredible cameos here and there. Brilliant parody of vampire movies with some "biting" social commentary as well. Can't wait for Season 2!"

The Haunting of Hill House

"The Haunting of Hill House wins for me - the reason being that it takes me back to living in a haunted house called … Hill House."

Are you curious what that house looked like? So were we....

The 16th Century abode actually called Hill House!
