In the golden age of TV, debating which show is the best can be tough. Everyone has their favorite show and they'll go to the ends of the earth to defend it. But what is the most watched series airing on cable according to TV Time users? Scroll down to see our global list from the past year to find out which series ranks No. 1!

20. Van Helsing (Syfy)

This reimagining of the classic Dracula story sees the world dominated by vampires, requiring humans to work together to survive. Vanessa Helsing is the daughter of famed vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing and she wakes up after a five-year coma to discover a vampire-controlled world. She soon learns that she possesses a unique blood composition that makes her immune to vampires and able to turn the creatures into humans. That power puts humanity's last hope to return the world to how it once was before the vampires took over in Vanessa's hands. Van Helsing has been renewed for season four.

19. Legion (FX)

David Haller is a troubled young man who was diagnosed with schizophrenia as a child. Shuffled from one psychiatric institution to the next, in his early 30s, David met and fell in love with a beautiful and troubled fellow patient named Syd. After a startling encounter with her, he was forced to confront the shocking possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees may actually be real. Syd led David to Melanie Bird, a demanding but nurturing therapist who heads a team of specialists -- Ptonomy, Kerry, and Cary -- each of whom possesses a unique and extraordinary gift. Together, they helped David to recognize and harness his hidden abilities and unlock a deeply suppressed truth -- he had been haunted his entire life by a malicious parasite of unimaginable power. The upcoming season three will the final season.

18. Keeping Up with the Kardashians (E!)

Come on, you don't need us to tell you what this show is about! Currently on season 16, there is no end in sight for this reality behemoth.

17. Marvel's Cloak & Dagger (Freeform)

The collapse of an oil rig in New Orleans owned by the company Roxxon causes two teenagers to become unlikely friends. Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson come from vastly different backgrounds -- Tandy, from a very wealthy upbringing, and Tyrone, a boy from Boston who has a stutter. Their developing abilities and feelings make things more complicated for the unlikely, fledgling superheroes. Currently on season two, this Marvel series is only just getting started.

16. Siren (Freeform) 

Legend has it that Bristol Cove was once home to mermaids. Now, this coastal town has a mysterious new visitor in a girl named Ryn, who may just prove that all of the stories are true. Ryn catches the eye of local marine biologist Ben, and when he begins to show interest, fellow marine biologist Maddie becomes suspicious. Others in town, like deep sea fisherman Xander, are on a quest to discover the truth that is out there, and Helen, the town eccentric, knows more about the mysterious creatures than she lets on. The battle between man and sea takes a dangerous route as these predators seek to claim their birthright. Siren returns this summer for the second half of season two.

15. The Bold Type (Freeform)

Putting together a magazine is not an easy task, requiring a lot of teamwork to finish the job and get the publication on newsstand shelves. That's why the staffers responsible for producing global women's magazine Scarlet lean on one another as they try to find their own voices. While working together to publish each issue of the periodical, they struggle to find their identities, manage friendships and find love. This series is currently airing season three.

14. Steven Universe (Cartoon Network)

The Crystal Gems are a team of magical beings who are the self-appointed guardians of the universe. Half-human, half-Gem hero Steven is the "little brother" of the group. The goofball is learning to save the world using the magical powers that come from his bellybutton and he goes on magical adventures with the rest of the Crystal Gems, even though he's not as powerful -- or smart -- as fellow group members Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl. Despite his shortcomings, Steven usually finds a surprising way to save the day. Season five just ended this January and fans are worried it might not come back. So far, there has been no news of a renewal.

13. Mr. Robot (USA)

Young, anti-social computer programmer Elliot works as a cybersecurity engineer during the day, but at night he is a vigilante hacker. He is recruited by the mysterious leader of an underground group of hackers to join their organization. Elliot's task? Help bring down corporate America, including the company he is paid to protect, which presents him with a moral dilemma. Although he works for a corporation, his personal beliefs make it hard to resist the urge to take down the heads of multinational companies that he believes are running -- and ruining -- the world. This series will end with the upcoming season four.

12. The Sinner (USA)

Detective Harry Ambrose returns to his hometown in rural New York to assess an unsettling and heart-wrenching crime -- parents murdered by their 11-year-old son with no apparent motive. As Ambrose realizes there's nothing ordinary about the boy or where he came from, the investigation pulls him into the hidden darkness of his hometown. He's pitted against those who will stop at nothing to protect its secrets -- and the mysterious Vera, who proves to be a complicated, enigmatic piece to this haunting puzzle. The Sinner will return for a third season.

11. American Crime Story (FX)

This anthology series dramatizes real events and comes from the mind of Ryan Murphy. There will be a third season of American Crime Story, but it won't revolve around Hurricane Katrina as was previously reported. 

10. The Magicians (Syfy)

Quentin Coldwater, a grad student at Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, has been fascinated by the magical fantasy world since he was young. But as he has gotten older, Quentin and his 20-something friends have discovered that the magical world they read about as children is not only real, but it poses dangers to humanity. While studying at the secret upstate New York school, the friends struggle to cope with the aftermath of a catastrophe that befalls the institution. This series has been renewed for a fifth season.

9. Better Call Saul (AMC)

He wasn't always Saul Goodman, ace attorney for chemist-turned-meth dealer Walter White on Breaking Bad. Six years before he begins to represent Albuquerque's most notorious criminal, Goodman is Jimmy McGill, a small-time attorney hustling to make a name for himself. He's a forceful champion for his low-income clients, an underdog whose morals and ambitions often clash. Jimmy works with private eye Mike Ehrmantraut, a former Philadelphia cop and recent transplant to the Southwest. Mike has a specialized skill set -- he's a "fixer" of sticky situations -- that Jimmy soon learns to appreciate. This series will return for season five.

8. RuPaul's Drag Race (Vh1)

The title of America's Next Drag Superstar is on the line for a new group of glamour queens as the contestants compete in a series of elimination challenges that culminate with one player winning $100,000, a lifetime supply of cosmetics and the ultimate bragging rights. This reality show is currently airing season 11.

7. Fear the Walking Dead (AMC)

A sign of the apocalypse has begun. Reports of a rapidly changing world for unknown reasons underscore this gritty drama, a prequel to AMC's uber-popular The Walking Dead. The story is told through the lens of high school guidance counsellor Madison Clark. The widowed mother is raising two children single-handedly and maintains a relationship with English teacher Travis Manawa, her apocalyptic partner. The challenge of blending their families is exacerbated by unforeseen chaos, and a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold. Season five returns this summer.

6. Rick and Morty (Adult Swim)

After having been missing for nearly 20 years, Rick Sanchez suddenly arrives at daughter Beth's doorstep to move in with her and her family. Although Beth welcomes Rick into her home, her husband, Jerry, isn't as happy about the family reunion. Jerry is concerned about Rick, a sociopathic scientist, using the garage as his personal laboratory. In the lab, Rick works on a number of sci-fi gadgets, some of which could be considered dangerous. But that's not all Rick does that concerns Jerry. He also goes on adventures across the universe that often involve his grandchildren, Morty and Summer. Season four has been ordered with a whopping 70 episodes still to come.

5. American Horror Story (FX)

This creepy anthology series from Ryan Murphy continues to find new ways to give us nightmares. The next season is titled American Horror Story: 1984.

4. Shadowhunters (Freeform)

On her birthday, Clary Fray discovers a surprise concerning her life. The teenager is not who she thinks she is -- she comes from a long line of human-angel hybrids, called Shadowhunters, who hunt demons. After her mother is kidnapped, Clary is thrust into the world of demon-hunting. Clary relies on mysterious Jace and fellow hunters Isabelle and Alec to help her navigate the dark world. While living in this new world among creatures like vampires and werewolves, Clary's best friend Simon helps her uncover answers that could help her find her mother. This fan-favorite series is currently airing its final season.

3. Vikings (History)

Viking Ragnar Lothbrok is a young farmer and family man who is frustrated by the policies of Earl Haraldson, his local chieftain who sends his Viking raiders east to the Baltic states and Russia, whose residents are as poor as the Norsemen. Ragnar wants to head west, across the ocean, to discover new civilizations. With assistance from his friend Floki, Ragnar builds a faster, sleeker fleet of boats to help him make it to the Western world. Through the years Ragnar, who claims to be a direct descendant of the god Odin, continues to struggle with Earl until the two face each other in a final battle for supremacy. Following that, Ragnar goes on a search for new lands to conquer. The upcoming season six will be the final season.

2. Suits (USA)

Big-time Manhattan corporate lawyer Harvey Specter and his team, which includes Donna Paulsen, Louis Litt, and Alex Williams, are launched into a play for power when a new partner joins the firm. With his two best associates gone and Jessica back in Chicago, Specter and the team try to adjust to a new normal without them. The team faces down betrayals, fiery relationships, and secrets that eventually come to light. Old and new rivalries surface among members of the team as they learn to deal with their new member. The upcoming ninth and final season will be 10 episodes.

1. The Walking Dead (AMC)

But the No. 1 most watched current series on cable is of course The Walking Dead. This gritty drama portrays life in the months and years that follow a zombie apocalypse. Led by former police officer Rick Grimes, his family and a group of other survivors find themselves constantly on the move in search of a safe and secure home. But the pressure each day to stay alive sends many in the group to the deepest depths of human cruelty, and they soon discover that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be more deadly than the zombies walking among them. This series will return for season 10.
