But Mike Pawlawski threw two second-half touchdown passes to Terry Battle as San Francisco beat Memphis 13-6 in the XFL on Saturday night. Pawlawski, the league's leading passer, connected with Battle on passes of 9 and 24 yards as San Francisco overcame a 6-0 halftime deficit. San Francisco's first touchdown was set up by Emile Palmer's interception that gave the Demons the ball at the Memphis 25. The drive was helped by a pass interference call. Battle's second score came after a short Memphis punt gave the Demons the ball at the Maniax 41. The Maniax had a chance to tie it, but Jim Druckenmiller's fourth-down pass was intercepted by Wendell Davis at the San Francisco 11 with less than a minute to play.
