Lakshman fights with him, with Shri Ram's blessings. Vibhishan begs Shri Ram to help Lakshman as Indrajit's strength will increase manifold after sunset. As Shri Ram comes to the battlefield, Indrajit makes himself invisible. He aims serpent darts 'Nagapasha' at Shri Ram and Lakshman. Bound by the serpents, they cannot move and lie helpless on the battlefield unconscious.
