A story of a young woman who is separated from her family and her journey to rebuild it. Isabel Salgado, with her three children, Socorro, Raphael, and Regina, gets involved in a tragic bus accident. Socorro is adopted by Celia and Raul and renames her Esperanza. The middle child, Raphael, is adopted by Luis and Ester and is renamed Danilo. The youngest one, Regina, now lives as the sole heir of a corrupt town mayor and is renamed Cecille.
