Snow people, who have been living peacefully in the mountains, lost their homes due to disasters caused by drastic changes in the global environment and have come down from the mountains to the big city of Tokyo. The Japanese government agree to accept them in response to this unusual situation. Yukio is employed by Midori’s mother to work at the supermarket, and begins to live with her. At first glance, Yukio appears no different, but he seems to possess certain unusual traits, such as sleeping in the freezer at night, as well as certain supernatural powers. He eventually ends up falling in love with Midori, but has to confront the harsh realities that surround him, such as discrimination and prejudice, strict government control, and the excessive waste of resources from a human-centered society driven by consumerism. Will the couple be able to overcome the many hurdles they face?
