After a scoreless first quarter, Leo Araguz 27-yard field goal in the opening seconds of the second gave the Hitmen a brief lead, but Jim Druckenmiller drove Memphis 59 yards for a 6-3 lead on a 5-yard TD pass to Mark Thomas. Druckenmiller hit Daryl Hobbs for a 6-yard TD at 13:10, and Jeff Hall connected with a 41-yard field goal with 3 seconds left in the half to send the Maniax to the locker room with a 15-3 lead. The Hitmen pulled them within 15-10 after Richardson's 9-yard touchdown to Davis and Ryan Collins converted the extra point with 2:04 left in the third.
