The story goes back to the so-called “Noite Sangrenta” of October 19, 1921, in which some of the heroes of 1910, such as Machado dos Santos and Carlos da Maia, were murdered by a militia of sailors and republican guards following a political coup -military and another change of government. Berta da Maia, Carlos' widow, decides to investigate and confront Abel Olímpio, the militia chief meanwhile tried and imprisoned in the Coimbra penitentiary. October 1921 and the steps of Berta da Maia's demand to reveal the identity of the perpetrators of the crimes.
