Jennifer becomes involved in trying to counsel the girl, and Amy meets an idealistic young doctor who helps save Madeline's life after she has obtained the services of a 'backyard' abortionist. At a speaking engagement, Tommy meets Mrs Amelia Redman, with whom an instant attraction develops. Jennifer and Arthur set up their new office, and all seems set fair for the new firm of Carson and Simpson.
