Esperanza and Luis Gustavo, are two young people who fall in love at first sight, but due to life circumstances they must separate and promise never to forget each other, but they do everything possible to get back together and realize their love. Luis Gustavo is led to believe that Esperanza is his father's illegitimate daughter, and therefore would be his half-sister, so they should not love each other, so he abandons her and gets engaged to another woman, which causes great pain in her and decides not to tell her the truth about why he rejected her. Esperanza is disappointed in Luis Gustavo and believes that he has stopped loving her, but he suffers in silence for that love.
