To thank him, the family promises to give the king a wonderful gift in Spring. The chair they build for him is nice, but not very sturdy, and ends up as firewood. The sweater they knit is too small, but it will sure make a nice duster. Finally, the family decides to cook him a feast, but all their eggs break. Except for one. And the little girl finds a way to give the king a very special gift indeed.
