Four children loses their parents in a plane crash. The two sisters Mercedes and Pearl, have never met Glenn and Torsten before, but on a common moment of remembrance, they meet for the first time. When a woman from the social services says that she has found new families for them, the children runs away to Glenn's parents' boat Luna and throws off. On Luna the children experiences a summer of sorrow, joy, love and jealousy, hope and hopelessness. But it's also dangerous at times and their friendship is put to the test. But with no one knowing where they are - they can go anywhere, and they all decide to go to Solbacken and Torsten's grandma's old, forgotten cottage. A cottage they've only seen in an old black and white photograph. How are they gonna find the cottage, and will they make it before the police catches them?
