Anja, 53, is a literature teacher. When her husband Antti is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, she promises him to end her life before the disease is too far advanced. But when Antti begins to sink, Anja pushes back the deadline. For her part, her young niece Mari is in the midst of teenage turmoil when she enters into a romantic relationship with Julian, her teacher.
