As a result of Arthur's involvement with the Ward case, he decides to stand up to his father and stay with Jennifer. Much to Arthur's surprise his father applauds the decision and says he will lend Jennifer and Arthur the money to set up properly in an office. Tommy's political career takes a step in the right direction when Tommy convinces Edgar Swann that he's the right man to take over Swann's parliamentary seat, and in a meeting at the local committee rooms, Tommy shows up well against his chief opponent in the pre-selection stakes. Sarah, while enjoying the luxury life at Godfreys, begins to miss the warm family atmosphere of life with Jennifer.
