Simão (Tulio Starling) is an idealistic singer, who has difficulties in establishing himself in the phonographic market. With no money and no success, he is persuaded by Lidia (Barbara Colen), his wife, to look for any job and help with the household bills. He goes to producer Missiê Jack, who invites him to create a composition for kitsch singer Ivanhoé (Edy Star). Music hits the music charts, but the partnership between composer and producer is short-lived. Missiê's unethical working methods frustrate Simão, who takes an unexpected blow from his partner. Simão, then, decides to open his own record label, Sensacional Discos, to face his disaffection. Using tricks and lies, the two start a war to see who gets the most hits at the top of the '80s charts. An American singer who doesn't speak English, a TV presenter in love with boy bands, a sexy singer who wants to be the new queen of the little ones.
