Shan feels that she is not good enough for Kong and suggests breaking up with him. Kong digs out newspaper clippings from 20 years ago about Shan's car accident. He decides to change her destiny. Following Kong's instructions, Ho manages to save Shan from her childhood tragedy.
Kong then goes to Lan's home to look for Shan but is shocked to find that Shan has been missing since she was seven. Moreover, Ching has now become Kong's girlfriend. Even the outcomes of the previously solved cases involving Shan have changed. Kong never expected that history would be rewritten because Shan was saved.
Triad leader Sun is murdered and Kong sees Shan in a related videotape.
