Mais Jennifer meets Charlie Miller who says he has information which will clear her dead husband's name. In exchange for this information, Miller wants 250 pounds, which Jennifer borrows from Robert. Her investigations connect Miller with an illegal gambling operation run by Donnegan, a known gangster. Godfrey instructs Gerard to find out what he can about the story. He goes to Donnegan's club, but is unable to track down Miller. With the 250 pounds in hand, Jennifer goes to the agreed rendezvous to meet Miller, but finds Miller's murdered body.
