Jean Valjean, released from prison and struggles to free himself from his condition as an ex-convict and to integrate into society, which constantly rejects him. There is, however, someone who trusts him, the bishop, who intervenes in the first part, and who manages to awaken the conscience of the protagonist to direct it decidedly, towards the integration in the society.
