Mais Tantor falls ill after drinking from the river and the Professor concludes the water must be contaminated. While Terk tends to the sick Tantor, Tarzan, Jane and the Professor begin a perilous journey upriver to find the source of the contamination. Things go from bad to worse when the three are captured by a tribe who accuse them of poisoning the river.
