Mahadev (Shambhu) stops them from doing so. He makes the citizens realise that the Maharaja wants to expiate for his sins by taking care of them. The priests become annoyed with Shambhu for protecting the Maharaja. They try to destroy him, but in vain. The priests boast of their wisdom, and challenge Shambhu. Shambhu accepts their challenge. On Mahadev's advice, Ashok Sundari helps Nahush in becoming the king of Swarg Lok.
