Realising the threat to Tommy's election prospects, Gerard schemes to undermine Donnegan's power over Tommy. He wins the confidence of another gangland boss and arranges to have Donnegan's gang wiped out. Jennifer befriends Major James Dolman, Tommy's rival for the seat of Cameron and despite Godfrey's bitter objections, the two become close friends.
